How to Run a SolidWorks Design Review in Sibe

1. Get the files in

Two routes. Engineers working in SolidWorks check files in through the add-in, which writes a version automatically and keeps assembly references intact. To put a model up for review from the browser, upload it to the Web Dashboard.

Uploading an assembly (SLDASM)

• Put the SLDASM and every SLDPRT it references in one folder on disk
• Sign in, and from the Workspace home page click Upload
• In the Import Model dialog, click Upload File and browse to that folder
• Select all the files belonging to the assembly — multiple SLDPRTs, one SLDASM — and click OK
• Wait for the assembly to parse and appear on the Scene

The common failure here is selecting only the SLDASM. An assembly is not one file, and without its parts there is nothing to display.

Uploading a single part (SLDPRT)

• Sign in, and click Upload from the Workspace home page
• Click Upload File and browse to the file
• Select the SLDPRT and click OK

2. Invite the reviewers

1. On the Scene, click Share
2. Enter the email of the person you want, and click Invite. They get a link that opens the Scene directly
3. Repeat for each person — one email at a time

Anyone already in your Workspace is notified automatically when you create a new Scene, so you do not invite the same colleagues twice.

For someone outside the team — a client, a supplier, an advisor — use a public share link instead. It opens in any browser with no account at all.

3. Collect the feedback

Leaving a comment

1. Hold Ctrl and click the exact spot on the model, or click Comment at the bottom of the screen and then click the spot
2. Type the comment and press Enter

A pin lands on the geometry and stays there. Every comment is also listed in the right sidebar, so nothing gets lost behind the model.

Answering one

1. Click the pin to open the preview
2. Click No replies to open the Comments sidebar with the cursor in the reply box
3. Type your reply and press Enter
4. Click the status icon and move it from Pending to In Progress

The pin changes color with the status, so an open item is visible on the model rather than buried in a list.

4. Upload the next version

Feedback usually means a change. Push the updated model so reviewers can see exactly what you did with their comments.

1. Update the files in SolidWorks
2. Open the Scene and click the Versions icon in the left panel
3. Click Upload new version, then Upload File
4. Select the same shape of upload as before — a single part, or the assembly plus its parts
5. Click OK

Both versions stay available, and the comments appear on both. Reviewers can see which feedback was addressed without asking, which is the step that usually costs a round of emails.

What this changes

• Comments land on the geometry, not in an email describing it
• Reviewers need no SolidWorks license
• Every version is kept, with its conversation attached
• Status is visible on the model, so an open item stays open
